About us...
The
North Country Center for the Arts in Lincoln, NH, founded in
1985, is a 501 (c) 3 charitable non-profit arts organization supporting the arts in
northern
New Hampshire. At present, NCCA produces a summer Mainstage Theatre
and a touring Children's Theatre. The
Mainstage company produces Broadway musicals. These productions
have developed a reputation for high level of artistic performances
in respect to acting, sets and costumes. Plays in previous years
are shown on the Past Productions page
while this years plays are described in this year’s Season page.
The Children's Theatre company, during an
eight week summer season, travels to eight communities in NH, staging ten performances
each week of adaptations of well-loved fairy tales. These performances are
presented in partnership with other arts organizations that host the shows
in their local communities.
Our summer
company, spearheaded by Artistic Director, Kate Arecchi, consists
of 40-60 actors, technicians and administrative staff who join us
from across the country; we hire much of our company from auditions/
interviews at the StrawHat in NYC and NETC in Boston. The Penguin
Ski Lodge, once home to the Lincoln Opera House, serves as the main
residence for most of our staff, complete with dining room and a
gymnasium that serves as our rehearsal space. The residence is within
walking distance of downtown Lincoln and the Papermill Theatre.
We
are extremely fortunate to receive support from the NH State
Council on the Arts, Northern NH Foundation, loyal sponsors,
local businesses,
donors, and a vast volunteer network drawn from the White Mountain
area. Our special gratitude has been earned by the Lincoln Mill
Associates who provided us with the free use of the theatre
and other facilities as well as much other support over 15 years. We extend special thanks to InnSeason
Resorts South Mountain for use of the theatre space as well
as other facilities.
We
have begun to pursue our vision of becoming a year-round arts
center. Please stay tuned for details on this endeavour.

Lincoln
is located at the gateway to the White Mountain National Forest,
the major wilderness reserve in the Northeast. Lincoln is at
the western end of the Kancamagus Highway, the only federally designated "scenic
byway in northern New England". Main Street is only minutes
away from the natural wonders of the Franconia Notch State Park,
which offers over 6400 acres of " natural beauty nestled between
the Franconia and Kinsman Mountain ranges." This area is
home to Clark's Trading Post, The Flume, Loon Mountain
Resort, Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves, Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, Franconia Notch State Park and the White Mountain National Forest, in addition to many other fascinating attractions.
Only
2 hours north of Boston, Lincoln offers year-round excellent
shopping and dining experiences. It provides an array of unique
stores and
a charming selection of lodging and a full calendar of special
events. Hiking and camping in the surrounding mountains is a
major tourist attraction as is leaf-peeping in the fall and
skiing in
the winter.
